With the game just over two months after release, players are clamoring for any information they can about the game. And there has been some success, with a new datamine possibly revealing a second set of monsters returning from previous Monster Hunter games.
As with all leaks, take this with a grain of salt until confirmed by Capcom.
Blangonga and Lagiacrus may return for Monster Hunter Wilds
A few weeks ago the data mining began, revealing the potential returns of the Gravios, Gypceros, Nerscylla and Gore Magala. Now, new information from Reddit user TheNadei has revealed some monsters that may be making a comeback.
It appears that the Blangonga, an ape-like monster with tusks similar to Rajang, will return to the game.
Each monster in the Monster Hunter series is given an ID that it retains throughout each game. By looking at the game’s source code, TheNadei managed to match some of the Wild’s monster IDs with previous games.
Using this method, it appears that the Blangonga, an ape-like monster with fangs similar to Rajang, will return to the game for the first time since Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. It will be joined by Lagriacrus, a Leviathan not seen since Generations Ultimate, and the Seregios, Anjanath and Odogaron, who were in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak and Monster Hunter World respectively.
In addition to the returning monsters, the datamine points to six potential locations, referred to in the game files as Desert, Forest, Oil, Grave, Priestess, and Wall. And TheNadei also dissected the game’s possible breaks, which could point to some new monsters, with parts like Trunk and Antennae in the files.
Of course, until this is confirmed by Capcom, don’t count your chickens. But it certainly seems exciting.
Monster Hunter Wilds introduces a dynamic, living world with changing climates, along with the usual variety of giant monsters, weapons and characters. With a new holder, the Seikret, you can move faster and easier.
