Dragon Age: Veilguard’s first patch isn’t just about dressing up as someone who bangs, okay, it saved us all from unexpected NPC neck growth

Dragon Age: The Veilguard has now received its first patch, and while you’ve certainly seen the Mass Effect gear care package it adds to the game, you should also check out the rest of the notes, because BioWare saved us all by very strange NPC -behavior.

You heard me, while you were thinking about dressing up as a medieval fantasy Commander Shepard who sleeps in whatever the Nomandy version of Milhouse’s father’s race car bed is, BioWare has done other important things. So step away from that new ME gear chest next to the Workshop that adds the patch – which can be accessed once you’ve completed Harding’s ‘The Singing Blade’ mission – and come read this with me.

If you look through the patch notes, you’ll notice that one of the bullet points reads: “NPC necks no longer grow unexpectedly”. I don’t know about you, but I’m a little sad that I’ve never seen this happen in the game, and I’m also a little glad that it’s gone. One minute you’re fighting your way through some ruins, and the next minute, boom, you’re trading with a Veil Jumper that looks like a giraffe?

Anyway, that’s not the only interesting solution you’ll find besides the few that BioWare pre-announced, as you should find that “Harding and Taash banter will no longer repeat indefinitely”, and somehow reason, the studio has specified that the former “now has arrows in her quiver and is ready for battle”. Nice, Harding, you apparently no longer come to work because you are unable to get the job done.

BioWare says it has also “slowed down the swift raven in Hossberg”, “adjusted the creepy corpse movement as they entered or exited the camera”, and ensured that “the Dalish elf in the Unwanted Guests mission is now a real is eleven.” Birds, bodies and bizarre wrong racing moments, all sorted.

On a serious note, the developer has also made some balancing adjustments to certain combat and player skills, so you might want to be careful the first time you jump into the game after the patch.
